USA Youth & High School Rugby End of Year Report 2024/25 Season

September 2, 2025

USA Youth & High School Rugby (YHS) has released its 2024/25 End of Year Report, highlighting strong participation growth, expanded opportunities, and key progress in developing the future of American rugby.

This season, YHS membership increased by 9% compared to the previous year. Growth was robust among 8–14-year-olds, while female participation also increased following the Women's 7's Bronze medal at the 2024 Olympics. More than 30 State Youth Rugby Organizations reported double-digit registration growth, supported by the launch of new clubs and programs across the country.

YHS expanded access through partnerships such as Imagine Rugby, which introduced more than 200,000 students to the game across 21 states, and Urban Rugby America, which continues to bring rugby to underserved communities. Locally, initiatives like the Houston Flag Rugby League demonstrated how rugby can successfully integrate into schools and create lasting pathways to club competition.

The year also saw major steps forward in player development. Through its partnership with USA Rugby High Performance, collectively we launched a national application process and regional Talent ID Camps that saw over 1000 kids come through and from that USAR HP identified 200 players for the High Performance pathway. These athletes are now training consistently through the new Skills Development Platform, aligning youth rugby with national team development.

Looking ahead, YHS is focused on advancing state-level recognition, expanding female participation, strengthening coach and referee development, and delivering greater support to clubs and schools—driving toward the vision of one million youth players by 2031.
