Belmont Shore and Eagle Soar at 2025 Girls High School Rugby Nationals in Madison


The 2025 Girls High School Rugby National Championships brought together the nation's top talent for a thrilling weekend of competition from May 16–18 at the Wisconsin Rugby Sports Complex in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin. The event featured both high school club and single-school divisions, uniting elite programs from across the country in a showcase of skill, determination, and sportsmanship.
🏆 Tier 1 Club Championship: Belmont Shore Reigns Supreme
In the Tier 1 club division, Belmont Shore Rugby Club from California emerged as the national champions. After a commanding 80–0 victory over Chicago Valkyries (IL) and a hard-fought 34–0 win against United (UT) in the semifinals, Belmont Shore faced the Majestics (UT) in the final. Displaying exceptional teamwork and resilience, Belmont Shore secured a 31–29 victory in Over Time to claim the championship title in what can only be described as an epic final!
🏆 Single-School Division I: Eagle Captures the Crown
In the single-school Division I bracket, Eagle High School from Idaho delivered a stellar performance throughout the tournament. After an 80–0 quarterfinal win over City Honors (NY) and a dominant 38–0 semifinal victory against Catholic Memorial (TWI), Eagle faced Meridian (ID) in the championship match. Demonstrating tactical prowess and cohesive play, Eagle secured a 34–7 win to become the national champions.
📍 A Unified Celebration of Girls’ Rugby
This year's tournament marked the second consecutive year that both the high school club and single-school championships were held concurrently at the Wisconsin Rugby Sports Complex. The venue provided a premier setting with top-notch facilities. The unified event attracted teams from across the nation and offered a valuable opportunity for college scouts and USA Rugby age-grade coaches to observe emerging talent.
